We are looking for a Performance & Drivability Analysis Engineer as a part of the Longitudinal Dynamics Team within Engineering at Volvo Cars. The job will also be supporting the other attributes within the team.
The Longitudinal Dynamics Team is part of the Vehicle Attributes department at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg. The department supports the strategic direction of “For life. Freedom to move in a Personal, Sustainable and Safe way.” We organise attribute competence in dynamic attributes such as vehicle dynamics, drivability, charging performance, braking, body structure dynamics, road noise, wind noise, propulsion NVH, climate & thermal NVH, solidity, component NVH and active sound experience. In close collaboration with the design and release teams we take responsibility for a great driving experience for our end users.
You will get the opportunity to be involved in all project phases, from Advanced Engineering to production start with a focus on power certification. You will get a varying role where you work with testing in complete vehicle and program management securing and reporting the attribute performance contributing to the world’s most inspired and confident driving experience. We can offer state-of-the-art equipment and test facilities and the opportunity to build an extensive network with other internal design areas, suppliers, and our development center in Shanghai.
What you'll do
As a Performance & Drivability Analysis Engineer, you will support the delivery of the teams attributes. You will plan, perform, analyze and report test results from complete vehicle testing and homologation during concept, prototype and industrialization verification phases. Some focus will also be on project management and support for other attributes in the team. Most of the testing will be performed at chassis dynos in-house and at test tracks close to Gothenburg, but the position also involves leading testing activities at different tracks in Europe and expeditions on public roads.
You will also support in the requirement setting, communicate analysis results and support the design work from an attribute perspective. You will participate in the development of improved or new methods and measurement capabilities. Some of your responsibilities will be to lead assignments dependent on your experience and knowledge.
What you'll bring
We see that you have a BSc or MSc in mechanical engineering or similar and that you have an understanding of complete vehicle testing.
You are curious to develop, learn new things and grow to be a part of bringing the attribute into the age of electrification. Understanding of the customer expectations & experience and the importance of official data in the overall refinement of vehicles will be highly valued. Beneficial is also hands-on experience working on vehicles, measurement systems and test planning.
On a personal level, you are a curious, outspoken and brave person known for your ability to synthesize data, transforming complex analysis into simple and effective recommendations. You are customer-focused and results-oriented with a sense of timing. You possess good interpersonal and communication skills and are comfortable to present and discuss results at different fora and levels. You are a team player with a sense of accountability, also comfortable working independently.
Required qualifications:
- BSc or MSc within related engineering areas
- Ability to both work hands-on in vehicle and plan, perform, analysis and reports testing
- Driver’s license, Swedish B-level
- Experience from complete vehicle testing is meritorious
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
