Volvo Cars is committed to going fully electric by 2030 and mastering the battery is a key for us to success. We at Propulsion Energy Systems (PES) are now investing heavily in developing our analysis operations for traction batteries in terms of simulations and through developing our new battery labs. Do you want to be involved in the latest battery development to improve the attributes of batteries in electric vehicles and hybrids? This position is a temporary position due to a parental leave, estimated length of the temporary position is 1 year from 1th of June, 2024 until 1th of February, 2025

What You’ll Do
You will develop and utilize simulation methods for structural parts of our batteries and its components. You will be the one initiating tests and analyze results for validation of simulation methods developed. Creating technical documentation will also be among your tasks.

The work is cross functional, you will cooperate with colleagues within the battery ARTs and engineers across Volvo Cars as well as coordinate external suppliers. 

What you'll bring
We see that you have a Master’s degree in engineering, with focus on applied mechanics. You will also need experience from practical work with FE simulations, where you have gained skills in Ansa, Abaqus, Nastran or LS-Dyna. Last but not least, skills in Python or Matlab, will be crucial. 

If you possess experience in optimization, it is considered beneficial.

You share our genuine interest in vehicle electrification. You are a team player with strong communications skills and ability to build great networks. You have a strong analytical mindset with the ability to take vital actions when required. Your technical competence and your interaction with different teams creates a great atmosphere for innovative solutions.
