The Side Structure & Occupant Team at Volvo Cars Safety Centre is responsible for the Structural and Occupant Safety in our current and future cars in terms of the Side Impact Crash Safety performance.

What you'll do

As a Design Engineer Analyst (CAE Crash Safety) at Volvo Cars Safety Centre, you will play a critical role in developing the crash safety performance in next-generation Volvo Cars. You will perform advanced Finite Element simulations and learn about physical full-scale and system test methods. You are expected to seamlessly analyze and give recommendations based on both CAE and physical test data.

You will be working closely in the vehicle development programs together with the Team members, Engineering Manager, Department Program Managers and other internal/external stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop FE simulation models for Crash Safety Analysis.
- Perform analyses based on results from both virtual & physical data.
- Support world-class Engineering teams with design direction based on analyses.
- Challenge established CAE methods to improve efficiency and accuracy.

What you'll bring

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Positive attitude and a genuine interest in numerical methods
  • Experience with LS-DYNA and pre/post-processing tools like ANSA, META, and Oasys Primer
  • Deep understanding of Mechanics of Materials, Statics, and Dynamics
  • Documented experience in the Crash Safety domain
  • Strong problem-solving skills for unique challenges
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex problems
  • Concise technical communication skills and the ability to align multiple stakeholders

 

Meritorious Competences

  • Documented experience with Passive Safety systems such as Airbags and Belts
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and MATLAB
  • Familiarity with tools like TeamCenter, VisMockup, or CATIA is an advantage
  • Driver’s License (European B-level)
