Data Engineer/Analyst- Finance Domain Data Products
Take the lead in driving innovation
At Volvo Cars, we are committed to advancing safety, sustainability and electrification. To achieve our ambitious goals, we are looking for forward-thinking individuals who can identify challenges before they arise and deliver cutting-edge solutions that set new industry standards.
When you choose a career with Volvo Cars, you’re not just joining a company – you’re helping shape the future of mobility.
Let's introduce ourselves
Aligned with our overarching global data and analytics strategy, we have established a decentralized data hub within the finance domain. The hub assumes responsibility for implementing the strategy and driving the data & analytics transformation within finance. One important part of that is to ensure trusted fit-for-purpose finance data that can be leveraged by consumers across the company. We aim to achieve that by setting up a new product team for data within the hub with the responsibility to design, develop and maintain mainly consumer-aligned data products through a modern data-as-product approach.
Do you want to help lead the way and secure that Volvo Cars continues to be the fastest transformer in a drastically changing global automotive industry? Does the thought of developing and maintaining data products on financial data for the entire company excite you? Then the role as Data Engineer for the Finance Data Hub is the perfect job for you!
This is an unparalleled opportunity to generate value from data in an exciting and transforming industry where we aim to take the lead with new business models, direct consumer relations and a shift to sustainable and fully electric vehicles.
What you'll do
As a Data Engineer / Analyst your main tasks and responsibilities will be to:
• Design, model, develop and maintain data products based on data from the Finance domain
• Lead the discovery and solution design phase of new data products by understanding business processes, user needs, data flows, and business rules before implementation begins
• Design end-to-end data product solutions including conceptual, logical and physical data models, transformation logic, lineage, quality controls, security considerations, and operational requirements
• Produce clear technical designs and collaborate with stakeholders to validate solution approaches before writing production code
• Apply modern Data Product thinking by balancing business value, usability, scalability, maintainability and governance throughout the product lifecycle
• Follow and implement enterprise data governance standards and guidelines to ensure data is shared in a trusted, secure and compliant manner across the organization
• Develop robust, reusable and maintainable data transformation pipelines using modern engineering practices
• Develop a deep understanding of the content, context and behaviour of the data to provide expert support to data consumers
• Treat data as a product by continuously gathering feedback, addressing consumer concerns, measuring adoption and ensuring high customer satisfaction throughout the lifecycle of the product
• Collaborate closely with Data Platform Engineers to identify and address platform-related improvements that enhance developer productivity and operational excellence
• Contribute positively to the success, quality and adoption of our data products as part of a collaborative engineering team
• Continuously improve engineering standards, design methodologies and best practices surrounding data product development
What you'll bring
You are passionate about building high-quality data products that solve real business problems. You enjoy working with both business and technical stakeholders, asking the right questions before jumping into implementation, and designing elegant solutions that remain maintainable for years to come.
You are organized, analytical and methodical, and you naturally balance technical excellence with business value. You enjoy taking ownership, continuously improving how work is delivered, and contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture.
We Believe the Following Characteristics Describe You Best
