What you'll do

We are currently seeking to expand our team with an individual who possesses in-depth knowledge of semiconductor materials, manufacturing, and development, or extensive experience in cost engineering for electronics. The selected candidate will be based at our headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, and will be responsible for providing fact-based estimates of carbon emissions and costs as well as giving expert guidance on a range of topics related to your field.  As a cost engineer you work independently and in teams. The job includes international travel to suppliers manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost and carbon footprint perspective as well as Volvo offices and plants in different locations. 

Estimating is done with both engineering and business mind-set, i.e., by analyzing actual hardware/technical and commercial prerequisites to understand what requirements are driving cost and carbon footprint. You will be of great importance for a successful fact-based negotiation. 

What you'll bring

We believe that you might have a university degree in engineering physics, electronics, or a related field, with at least 10 years of deep knowledge in any of below areas: 
 

• Cost engineering for complex electronic assemblies. 

• Advanced Semiconductor front end manufacturing and materials. 

• Cost structures and business models for semiconductors.
