PLC Engineer

We are looking for a PLC Engineer to join the Tooling & Equipment team in Gent. 



Are you our new PLC-engineer? You will get the opportunity to:

Main tasks?

  • Follow up installations with RFQ/contract and Volvo Car Standards as a base.
  • Follow up installation, taking care that all tests are performed according to the specification
  • Follow-up and support safety test
  • Writing the specifications for the PLC safety and electrical part of the installation
  • Technical evaluation of the contractors offers
  • Support suppliers builders with PLC Software expertise
  • Support suppliers about HW and SW questions asked
  • Support production/maintenance in 3rd line analysis
  • Support and share knowledge within Global Final Assembly network


Purpose and responsibilities?

  • Secures that VCC standards and specifications are fulfilled
  • Lead and coordinated line builders PLC implementation to assure right quality and correct timing
  • Participate and follow-up in the design, documentation, programming and taking care that Volvo standards are followed
  • Reporting status and deviations in decided systems / tools and ensure that there are actions plans to reach targets.
  • For the financial and planning follow-up of your project
  • To update own assignments in the EC system
  • Within the area of responsibility support VCG-C with specialist competence with the authority to make decisions in technical matters.
  • Equipment that fulfils all steps in the handover process (VCS 8012,39)
  • To execute assignments according to ME processes and the corporate rules and regulations.


Competence requirements and core competences?

  • Knowledge of PLC systems (Sattline, Siemens TIA Portal, siemens S7) and Electrical and PLC Volvo Standard
  • Knowledge of Robots is a benefit
  • Knowledge of IT Volvo system
  • Knowledge of Machine safety
  • Project management skills
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Good communication and cooperation skills are crucial to succeed in this role.
