We are looking for an Office Support engineer to strengthen our local Office On-site Support (OOS) team which has clear E2E ownership and focused responsibility for IT related problems within the office environment.  The position is based in Ghent.

The product mission is to provide efficient on-site support at the Volvo Cars Gent office, enable a stable working environment and enhance the user experience by providing relevant hardware.

The right candidate should have an always-on mindset and will be working closely with colleagues in the plant to secure the office IT operations & deliveries. You will be part of the local Site Operations team and report to the local Factory Support lead. Next to that you will be working together with the global team, Digital Workplace, to harmonize local digital solutions to global standards. In this role, you will interact with colleagues at all Volvo Cars sites globally.

 

What you’ll do?

As Office On-site Support you will support Volvo Cars in Gent. The team delivers on-site and remote support, providing help to users with both software and hardware issues.

Office On-site support is a service minded solution-oriented support group with the users as their highest priority. The team works alongside several other support groups, including global service desk, Network and Config center.

Alongside with technical support, the team also staffs a Walk-in desk, providing face-to-face 1st line troubleshooting and IT support for Windows 10 and 11 operating systems. Troubleshooting software and hardware issues on HP workstations is part of the responsibilities. This includes not only the full Office suite, but also several Volvo Cars Applications. Support for meeting room equipment, HP printers and basic network troubleshooting is also included.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for hardware lifecycle management of the IT assets within the office environment.

You will contribute to service improvements and process optimization.

 

Who you are?

You have an interest in IT and technology, are very good at troubleshooting, have good communication skills, are good at organizing your work, and are used to working independently. As a person, you are a good communicator, even in stressed situations, and are outspoken and outgoing. You are solution-, and service-oriented, able to perform well and focused under pressure. You enjoy being a team player, being self-motivated, engaged, flexible, innovative, and enjoy working with supporting activities. You are interested in building a work environment based on trust.

You navigate confidently in a multi-cultural environment. You like to deliver first-class service, preferably with a little extra and can look back an a first experience in Digital Support.

You have good knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals and client OS (Windows 10, Windows 11). Knowledge of basic network skills, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP is recommended.

You have hands on experience of Incident Reporting in ITSM tools like Service Now.

Driver’s license B is required.

You are fluent in Dutch and English, both verbally and written.

It is an advantage if you have additional competencies, such as Active Directory, basic GPO knowledge. It is recommended to have a basic understanding of ITIL processes. Knowledge and experience from the automotive industry and/or industrial equipment is an advantage.
