Who we're looking for

At Volvo Cars, we’re redefining what premium mobility means – for our customers, our partners, and our people. In Germany, our fourth largest global market, this journey is accelerating. We’re now looking for a Commercial Operations Director who is ready to lead from the front and make a visible, lasting impact.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director/Head of Central Europe, this is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our German organisation. You’ll bring together Retail and B2B Sales, Used Cars, Product and Fleet into one powerful, aligned commercial engine - delivering growth, volume and profitability while elevating the end-to-end customer experience.

What you’ll be known for

Accountability: You will be present, hands-on and operationally involved, working side-by-side with your direct team, our retail partners and key stakeholders. You’ll listen, challenge, coach and inspire - building trust while driving performance.

Strong partnerships: You quickly establish credibility with our retailer network, larger fleet companies, leasing companies, platform providers and financial services - balancing challenge with support. You can clearly articulate how different sales models create value - for retailers, for Volvo Cars Germany, and most importantly, for our customers.

Commercial excellence: From volume and mix to pricing models, budgets and performance management, you set high standards and lead your organisation to deliver against them - consistently and sustainably.

Collaborative leadership: You are a natural connector. You lead and develop a senior, diverse commercial team by creating clarity, alignment and momentum. You work closely with peers in the local management team, holding yourself, and others, accountable to shared goals.

Transformative impact: The automotive industry is evolving fast, and you are comfortable leading through change. You bring experience from leading complex transformation journeys and know how to turn strategy into tangible business results, without losing people and partners along the way.

What you'll do

•    Performance comes first: Lead the Commercial Operations function to deliver new car sales volume, mix and profitability across all sales channels in Germany
•    Own the commercial budget and work closely with stakeholders to ensure competitive, compelling market offerings
•    Be a visible leader on site in Cologne, motivating, coaching and developing your leadership team and wider organisation
•    Represent the Commercial function in the German Management Team, shaping strategy and decision-making
•    Drive change and continuous improvement, increasing efficiency while maintaining effective controls
•    Build strong relationships across Volvo Cars globally, and with retailers, customers and relevant external bodies

What you’ll bring

•    Proven senior leadership experience in the automotive sector, ideally as a Commercial Leader 
•    Deep understanding of automotive sales models and their impact across the value chain
•    A track record of leading transformation and change in complex, fast-paced environments
•    Strong analytical skills, paired with the ability to influence through clear storytelling
•    A people-first mindset: You coach, give honest feedback, celebrate success and build high-performing, engaged teams
