Indirect Purchasing (IDP) is a global organisation with highly skilled and motivated employees located in Sweden, Belgium, China, Malaysia, India and USA. We have the responsibility for purchasing of Non-Production Material, Logistics, Machinery & Tooling, Services and IT within Volvo Car Group. Our task is also to provide ongoing support for related projects and vehicle programs. We are responsible for development of supplier collaboration together with internal stakeholders in order to reach Volvo Cars' cost, quality and environmental requirements.

 

We are looking for a talented individual to join our IDP team. You will join a diverse team of 9 skilled buyers in a dynamic environment where we transform the supply chain at Volvo Cars US. The packaging team covers Disposable-, Returnable- and Typebound Packaging as well as packaging services such as Maintenance and Container Management for both production and aftermarket. You will be assigned certain categories/projects from the above described packaging portfolio.

 

Your responsibility will be to participate and/or lead specific sourcing initiatives, implement them and manage commercial relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. The right candidate has ideally a background within packaging or related supply chain services and a good knowledge of procurement & project management. In this position you will:

 

Main responsibilities

  • Reduce total cost of ownership within your assigned commodity scope
  • Create and maintain commercial relations with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing projects & purchasing governance structures
  • Challenge status quo
  • Facilitate sourcing specification documentation and prepare legal agreements
  • Ensure purchasing processes are followed and enhanced

 

Required qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • University degree or equivalent experience in Engineering and/or Business.
  • Ability to work co-operatively in teams, as well as independently to drive and complete tasks
  • 3~5 years purchasing experience
  • Preferred automotive industry experience
  • Experience in SAP or equivalent system
  • Solid project management skills
