Digital Project Manager

Job Summary:

 

As a member of the Volvo Car US Operations Digital team, you’ll work in partnership with application and infrastructure teams to lead projects needed to deliver new hardware or new applications to the manufacturing facility. You will lead mixed teams of internal team members and vendor resources to deliver results, all while coordinating with global colleagues that provide standards, global solutions, and support.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Own projects from inception to completion, including project initiation, scoping, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, installation/deployment, and closure
  • Coordinate dependencies with other teams required to deliver to make projects successful
  • Regularly prepare status information and review project status with sponsors
  • Serve as escalation point for team members experiencing blockers on project progress
  • In partnership with purchasing, drive the review and selection of any vendor contracts required to deliver project work
  • Adapt projects to agile ways of working, as required. Serve as Scrum Master during agile projects.
  • Leverage Volvo standard tools organize and track project work.
  • Define a budget for projects. Track purchase orders, asset balances, plus project actuals and forecast to develop a complete financial picture.

Competencies/Experience/Skills Required:

 

  • Bachelor´s degree required, Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an IT project manager, preferably within the manufacturing domain.
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Experience leading teams in matrixed models, including teams that include internal and vendor resources.
  • Ability to support both waterfall and agile ways of working.
  • Experience with multiple agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban at a minimum, with interest in becoming a certified Scrum Master
  • Ability to present data confidently to an executive audience with well-summarized, concise information
