Summary of the role

At Manufacturing Engineering, you are part of an engineering team that makes sure that the propulsion systems we build meet the highest expectations from our customers. In close collaboration with colleagues in other business units, we develop and implement flexible and efficient manufacturing systems. The team has responsibility to develop and implement production lines and equipment solutions for projects, running changes, capacity projects and non-product projects according to project targets for the Volvo Cars Motor production. 
You will be part of an engineering team that implement engineering solutions that fulfil attribute requirements and manufacturing process demands within decided cost and time frames. 
The work includes contacts with global team, other engineering departments, plant engineering and production within our company as well as with external suppliers.
The position requires some travelling.

 

What you will do?

As our next Equipment Engineer you will execute Tooling & Equipment projects for our Taizhou plant motor production, together with a project team from concept phase to Final Status Report.
You will also: 

  • Learn and apply VOLVO “Develop Tooling, Facility & Equipment” procedure, and E – Card system.
  • Support the early phase investigation in equipment solution and cost analysis.
  • According to the process requirement, develop the equipment solution by considering cost, lean, and high efficiency etc.
  • Cooperate with IDP for suppliers’ development, bidding process on manufacturing perspective.
  • Work out RFQ (Request for Quotation) for Motor production equipment.
  • As project responsible, manage supplier for the project execution.
  • Learn and apply VOLVO technical standard in specific area.
  • Perform Equipment FMEA.
  • Proceed Handover equipment to end user procedure.
  • Lead and responsible for the documentation delivered by supplier according to VOLVO standard.
  • Secure EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) over time.
  • Secure equipment function as cycle time, ergonomics, reliability & maintainability, and product quality and other KPIs.
  • Support problem solving in the second line analysis.
  • Deep dive into specific technical domain.
  • Summary Lessons Learn for future.
  • Be part of the competence network and share the best practice.
  • Manage the equipment documentation follow VOLVO standard before handover.
  • Support Program Manager in finance related work as budget analysis, TSU, good receiving, and fixed asset etc.

  • At least 5 years manufacturing engineering work experience.
  • New model program experience.
  • Fluent English both in verbal and written.
  • AutoCAD & Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skill is required.
  • CATIA V5 skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Cross-department cooperation.
  • Working experience with foreign staff in joint venture preferred.
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills.
