What Should you do?

 Purpose

To develop methods and techniques for equipment in the production, lead and execute FT&E projects for the production units to fulfil the defined quality, lead time, cost efficiency, safety/health/environment, flexibility and change over. The areas of activity are Volvo Cars plants.

Overall responsible for delivering a complete process to our end customer, the plant, that fulfills all the agreed and specified requirements, capacity, quality, availability etc. demands at the lowest Total Manufacturing Cost. To be able to do this, all the other areas will be responsible for their deliveries, as commodity and tooling. It’s the Area Leaders responsibility to escalate in time to others if they don’t deliver according to agreement or plan. Area leader is overall responsible for the area.

 Main Tasks

Leads or executes equipment projects (develops, calculates, plans, TSU, procures and verifies) for plants.

Creates and analyses the equipment part of the process layouts.

Performs safety-, reliability- and cost analyses.

Performs Equipment FMEA.

Develops equipment strategies, in some cases in an SMS (Subject Matter Structure) group as driver or participant.

Initiates and leads AE (Advanced Engineering), OD (Operational Development), Project Execution assignments within the area of responsibility.

Contributes in annual work and pre-PS phases with specialist competence, works for Process Driven Product Design.

Supports the running production (Industrial Engineering, Production and Maintenance) with second line analysis within the area of responsibility.

Transfers competence within the area of responsibility to Production and Maintenance.

Contributes in development of instructions and routines within the area.

Participates in or leads relevant standard- and technical organisations within the area of responsibility with authority to represent Volvo Cars.

Follows the decided working methods such as VPDS and applicable BMS routines and E-card / Buy off book.

Leading and coordinating engineers from different area of responsibility in an equipment task. Ensuring that deliveries are according to the task description.

Main contact person towards suppliers regarding technical issues from RFQ to end of project.

Secures that the total investment budget is within its frame (from TSU to J1 +90 days)

Responsibility to report regarding the task development and the task status.

Overall responsibility regarding technical sections in the procurement process documents

Actively Lead & Contribute to the lean plant design and efficient manufacturing by using all lean fundamentals

Define priorities based on KPI gaps for simplified process design work and plan this work in accordance with car program milestones

Keep vision layout in mind and actively work towards the IDEAL State. Define GAP’s towards Ideal state of step together with production based on actual cost/car breakdown of the shop. Which key issues should be prioritized in order to achieve cost/car for the complete shop

Set KPI Target based on physical onsite study of reference line

Secure optimum man and machine utilization

Secure simple logic process flow, short lead times and high availability

Actively LEAD and Participate in M3MU Work Shops. Actively Train Fundamental Tools: Lead Time Map, Work Combination Table, Work Balance Board,

Ensuring that all stakeholders are involved and contributing to the end result (Plant Engineering, PLT, Geo, production, Maintenance, SCM, Unions)

 

What competence should you have?

Bachelor degree or above, Engineering major is preferable;

Minimum three years as Process Engineer, or eight years related working experience from machining industry (CNC), and good to have production experience.

Experience with Project Management preferred

Fluent English in listening, speaking, reading and writing
