Background:

The automotive industry is changing. Apart from great vehicles, customers today expect omni-channel interactions, transparent pricing, flexible and personalized offerings, and in general a hassle-free ownership experience. From a financial services perspective, this means we need to re-define and future proof parts of our business setup such as, sales processes, offer portfolio, commercial policies, risk management, funding, etc., to meet customer demands and sustain a commercially viable business.


What you will do:

  • Overall responsible for the Financial Services business for APEC region
  • Ensure a good understanding of all financial products (loan, ballon loan, finance lease, operational lease, subscription etc.)
  • Keep track of an up to date product description of all financial agreements, fill product and offer gaps where they exist
  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic finance partners
  • Implement regular monitoring of competitiveness of financial products – price/content – in the markets
  • Follow-up of all contract terminations and renewals with finance partners and take appropriate actions as contract renewal, contracts changes or Partner change (RFQ’s)
  • Secure legal, tax, accounting and treasury compliance of all contracts and/or business structures with finance partners
  • Drive the short, mid and long term business planning and target setting process with the markets and support them in achieving their business performance targets (volume growth , penetration levels ,renewals, commission income)
  • Together with the markets develop corrective actions when required to recover the market volumes, penetrations and commission income
  • Identify, drive and coordinate new business development and volume/profit opportunity initiatives
  • Take appropriate actions together with the NSC following the Dealer Satisfaction Surveys on Finance Partners
  • Promote and organize best practice sharing between markets
  • Generate cross-regional synergies by identifying & developing business partnerships spanning multiple markets
  • Define how the financial service offers can be featured and integrated within the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) business model which is being implemented across APEC markets
  • Help develop new business channels where financial service capabilities are a key enabler: Subscription; Direct Fleet; Car Sharing; etc.
  • Leverage financial services products to increase customer loyalty and retention sales
  • Leverage financial services products to support the development of a successful Used Car business across APEC markets
  • Work with owners for related Consumer Offers to identify opportunities where Financial Services can enhance existing customer offer: service plans; etc

 

Location:  Tokyo, Japan. Some travel required within APEC region.

What We Are Looking For: 
We are looking for someone who is flexible, analytical and has a problem-solving mindset.

  • You appreciate learning and developing by performing your task and taking great personal responsibility for delivering results and contributing to growth. In this role, it is important to have strong business skills, and the ability to plan, coordinate and carry out work with many different stakeholders and present the information in a simple and concise way.
  • You master communication in English and enjoy working in an international context.
  • You are a collaborative team player who is ready to assist colleagues and National Sales Companies to grow their financial services business, and a passion for coaching and mentoring. You are a good communicator, motivated by building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. You have a strong interest in building something new, not just maintaining existing processes.

 

You have a:

  • Master’s degree/ Higher Education or equivalent
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Strong affinity and desire to work in an international context, including the APEC region.
  • 5-10 years of work experience in financial services
  • Track record of driving Financial Services improvements and working with a Team that spans across multiple markets
  • High degree of business acumen and understanding of automotive business
  • You can manage multiple projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel

APEC Region

The APEC Region consists of the six NSC operations in Asia outside Greater China: Australia/New Zealand; India; Japan; Korea; Malaysia; and Thailand. The Region is an important part of Volvo Cars, driving profitable growth and taking the lead for digital transformation; business innovation; and electrification. The Region core office is based in Tokyo, though we also have regional teams working in KL and Shanghai
