Job Purpose

This Product Manager role sits within our Research and Development product organization, where we focus on proving the viability of potential products for Volvo globally. You will be working on innovative technologies, platforms, consumer facing products, and/or enterprise systems where you define how to develop and test a concept clearly and quickly.

 

In this role, you need a customer-first mindset, passion for innovation, and proven ability to deliver digital solutions. You must work well in a cross functional team environment and have a wide range of technical product experience from working with hardware, cloud, and mobile applications.

 

This role is based in our Sunnyvale, California location.

 

 What You Can Bring

  • Be responsible for setting short- and long-term strategies with far reaching impact for an entire R&D team
  • Engage closely with Engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods as well as a reasonable implementation schedule
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills in presenting strategies and features, pitching to leadership and gaining support across the company from teams in engineering, design, and R&D
  • Establish and monitor key product success metrics and analytics for your area
  • Communicate your teams’ vision and roadmap cross-functionally and be the spokesperson for your team
  • Drive the successful delivery of projects for your team, balancing priorities and resources in collaboration with the scrum master and program manager
  • Internal and external stakeholder and partner communication
  • Build a trusting, safe environment where team members feel empowered

 

Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of developing technical digital solutions
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful global consumer-facing product throughout its lifecycle, including experience managing both frontend UX and backend services
  • Deep understanding of cloud and mobile applications
  • Adept at ruthless prioritization in the face of competing priorities
  • Ability to take big ideas and turn them into a roadmap of features and research with minimal guidance
  • Strong leadership experience in aligning product strategy and execution efforts across large cross-functional groups, multiple locations, and time zones
  • Ability to travel internationally – 10-15% of the time
  • Experience in navigating and exerting influence in a non-hierarchical organization
  • Experience working in matrix environments and fast growth organizations
