Job Summary: 

The Technical Support Team is looking for motivated and driven individuals to provide automotive technical support to retailer technicians and internal customers via written and verbal communication. In difficult repair situations, candidates will provide the highest quality information and repair methods that comply with Volvo's established repair methods and procedures. This position requires the candidate to work together with the Technical Support Team, as part of a local support hub, to resolve technical challenges and escalate when necessary to remedy a difficult concern.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Retailer Technicians with guided expert level diagnostics to ensure a prompt vehicle repair.
  • Analyze, document, and report technical faults found on Volvo products and diagnostic tools
  • When necessary, escalate appropriate problems or situations to resolve the concern timely
  • Assist the larger Technical Support Team with Master Tech Meetings as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve difficult repair situations by duplicating and testing them in the technical workshop—during development days.
  • Agent evaluates case concerning customer complaints, prior warranty repairs, software status, etc. 
  • Looks for new and innovative solutions to problems and finds creative ways to produce results.
  • Display a good understanding of the organization's mission, goals, and strategies in daily work.
  • Perform retailer assessments and identify actionable outcomes to improve support for our retailer partners
  • Travel two to four times per year, both within the US and internationally

 

Authority

  • Make recommendations to retailers and partners on how to effectively repair faults in the cars
  • Provide input to retailers and partners on how to meet workshop and technical standards

 

 

Key Competencies/Abilities:

  • Associates degree preferred, or automotive technical certification
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Master Technician
  • All 8 ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications, plus L1 (Advanced level specialist)
  • Able to work both independently and within a team to analyze a problem logically, identify the root cause, and document the results
  • High energy for continuous improvement. Constantly searching for new and innovative solutions to technical and workshop concerns
  • Leadership skills are also a plus, such as a shop foreman or a team leader
  • Extensive knowledge of diagnostic procedures and test equipment
  • Knowledge of Volvo Repair methods and tools a plus
  • Basic knowledge of warranty policy and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong Microsoft (Excel, Outlook, etc.) skills with the ability to learn additional software programs.
  • Ability to handle several tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Strong presentation skills to present technical information to different audiences
  • Able to record information using Volvo specific diagnostic tools (i.e., MCD-Hub and to download programs and software using Volvo specific computer applications DHA and SDA)
  • Able to persuade and negotiate via phone, in person, build and give effective presentations
  • Able to analyze a situation and take corrective action when needed
  • Able to interact with employees and customers in a Volvo retailer
