Workshop Business Development Senior Specialist

                Job Summary:

The Workshop Business Development Senior Specialist position is based in Rockleigh, NJ and is responsible for transforming the Volvo Workshop of today and developing processes and technology integration for the future. This position focuses heavily on driving efficiency and streamlining the workshop operation. A key aspect of this role is to develop future processes, strategy and technology integration that will result in “life-long” relationships with our technicians and customers.  Strong communications and process skills are a must as creating work streams and collaborating within internal groups will be needed to ensure processes and technology products are implemented and maintained.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implemening workshop processes that will drive efficiency and make the service techncians job easier
  • Focusing on today’s workshop and converting manual systems and processes to help drive efficiency. Examples: Technician Repair order dispatching and time keeping
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies within the workshop and deploy LEAN principles that will create continuous improvement and ultimately drive efficiency.
  • Develop strategies to address workshop inefficiencies and understand lean and continuous improvement, test and prove out strategies for network rollout
  • Ability to collect key data points, analyse  and convey professionally to drive change management
  • Introducing Electronic/Digital Multipoint Inspection and technician tools that improve efficiency and optimize shop sales
  • Developing and Implementing the use of Electronic Categorization of Volvo Special Tools
  • Collaborate in the development of a Technician Enhancement Program which will aid in the overall fast pace training of workshop staff
  • Introduce/Implement Pre Planned/Pre picked process to aid the service technician in fixed right first time ability and drive efficiency. This will also lead to reduced customer visits
  • Collaborate in the development of a Technician Reward Program that will drive loyalty, fixed right first time scores and profitability



  • Knowledge of workshop process improvement, optimisation and reporting skills are required
  • Prior project management required
  • Knowledge of workshop elements and daily operations
  • Solid analytical skills along with data driven decision-making are required
  • Prior root cause analysis exposure
  • Possess the ability to drive teamwork and achieve desired outcome
  • Ability to effectively communicate learnings/findings and overall output of programs
  • Knowledge of program development, implementation and sustainment
  • Ability to drive workshop efficiency
  • Broad knowledge of automotive business – including knowledge of present and future competitor products
  • Knowledge of automotive vendor solutions, marketing concepts and retention strategies



  • Associates Degree Required, Bachelors preferred
  • Proven ability to lead, communicate vision and drive execution
  • Experience in directly working with cross-functional and international teams
  • MS Office Skills, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to Travel 50% or more
