Job Summary: 


The Senior Specialist is a role within Marketing Department, a subset of the Marketing, Product, and Brand Communication Organization. The role reports to the Manager, Brand Marketing. 


Responsible for identifying marketing opportunities and developing content in support of new car marketing, certified pre-owned car marketing and other marketing initiatives, and the associated business objectives.  


The candidate will: 

  • Work in close collaboration with Manager to create and implement effective and efficient marketing campaigns.  

  • Develop and maintain consistent communications that are on brand, on target, and on time.  

  • Become an expert on all vehicles and customer segments, and use that knowledge in collaboration with the PR, Digital, Event/Experiential, and CRM marketing teams to develop and execute personalized communication streams to effectively market to consumers throughout their entire journey.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Support Product and Certified by Volvo (pre-owned) teams’ long-term and short-term marketing needs through strategic recommendations, content creation and asset fulfilment  

  • Gain a full understanding of business needs and programs to properly brief in agencies, work with vendors and execute requests  

  • Coordinate the creation of marketing materials and creative campaigns, including PR, events/experiential, point of sale, print, digital, email, direct mail, social media and video assets  

  • In close collaboration with all relevant internal and external agencies – support and manage the day-to-day collaborative effort of creating and implementing marketing communication. 

  • Work with broader Marketing team to identify synergies and implement best practices across Tier 1 through Tier 3 content   

  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships to ensure work is completed in a timely manner and within budget 

  • Monitor all campaigns and review performance to identify areas for improvements  

  • Track, monitor and report on competitive best practices 

  • Lead internal status meetings and work with Americas regions / Global to share VCUSA  marketing plans and assets for Product/Range campaigns, Certified by Volvo 

  • Assist in the business planning process by identifying areas for growth and profitability 

  • Support management meetings (Quarter by Quarter reviews, Conferences, Volvo Retailer Conference, etc.) with marketing materials 

  • Develop and distribute retailer communications including newsletters, toolkits and announcements 

  • Ensure the Volvo brand is properly portrayed throughout marketing initiatives, compliant to guidelines 

  • Provide support for trade show and retailer meetings, if needed 


Key Competencies/Abilities: 

  • Strong business acumen - this is generally acquired through a combination of education (college or graduate) and at 3-5 years of experience. 

  • Knowledge of automotive operations at corporate and/or retailer level, ideal if the candidate has understanding of automotive new car marketing, Certified Pre-Owned businesses  

  • Good industry exposure and contacts for the purpose of benchmarking best practices and business development. Usually developed through 3 years business related relationships. 

  • Thorough understanding of general business concepts. Usually acquired through a 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience. 

  • Ability to plan & execute all creative campaigns throughout lifecycle and across tiers 

  • Define relevant KPIs and measure success of campaigns 

  • Actively inject insight and guidance across the organization 

  • Be an internal and external expert on vehicles and our marketing strategy and philosophy  

  • Maintain communications and coordinate activities with relevant agencies and stakeholders 

  • Think creatively and bring new ideas and strategies to the larger Marketing team 

  • Work collaboratively with other teams across functions and across the company 

  • Strong communication skills, written and oral  

  • Creative and detail-oriented  

  • Is curious and open-minded to new challenges and unproven ground 

  • Remains flexible and responsive to changing priorities and unexpected requests  

  • Ability to utilize a PC to communicate, analyze data, track trends and retrieve relevant information. 

  • Strong analytical skills: able to use information logically to reach a clear understanding of situation and problems. 

  • Results oriented and team-player; makes an impact across cross functional teams, organizations 

  • Handle several tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.  

  • Strong Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel experience
