Job Summary:        

As the Data Engineering Manager in our Data Management & Insights department, you will be an integral contributor to the digital transformation of Volvo Cars USA, a leading disruptor in the automotive industry.  You will manage our data lake and our integrations landscape and lead a team of engineers to deliver data to our organization and applications.  You will also collaborate closely with solution architects and stakeholders across the business, as your team is critical to multiple high visibility initiatives.

 

This opportunity is located out of our new headquarters in Mahwah, NJ!

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Owning the roadmap and financials.
  • Managing a team of engineers to support the data lake and to design/configure interfaces to integrate internal and third party systems using Mulesoft, Heroku, and other enterprise and legacy technologies.
  • Managing the data integration development lifecycle, from technical specifications, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Working with stakeholders to define data, integration, and API scope and specifications through detailed assessments and discovery.
  • Ensuring agile development best practices are being followed to develop reliable, scalable, and high performance solutions, including strong process documentation and change/version management.  Using scrum or Kanban boards to visualize and manage the team’s deliverables.
  • Executing on the architecture designs provided by our solution architects.
  • Collaborating with Solution Architects and Product Managers to reach a shared technical direction within the Vision, Strategy and Roadmap.
  • Defining operations support model and running incident/problem support processes.

 

Key Competencies/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated track record of ownership and leadership in data management
  • Familiarity with emerging data technologies such as cloud, big data, and AI/ML trends that enable data-centric solutions (Azure cloud and Snowflake experience preferred)
  • Experience in integration using next generation integration with MuleSoft’s iPaaS platform and API-First approach and Heroku preferred or other similar technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as you will be collaborating with multiple stakeholders and groups
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Experience with agile for IT implementations and familiarity with Microsoft DevOps (or a similar tool for agile project management)
  • Comfortable adapting to changing business situations and priorities
  • Process-oriented, great follow-through skills, and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with integrating with Salesforce is a plus
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience; 1-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
