Job Summary: 

 

This member of Americas Corporate Communications will play a key role in developing and executing public relations plans that support and communicate key messages of Volvo to several audiences with a focus on media and potential employees and investors.  These plans should be consistent with the corporate objectives and be in line with the core values of the company. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Act as a primary media contact, spokesperson and corporate evangelist for corporate and non-technical information.  Scope includes issues related to corporate messaging, community relations, sales performance and employer branding.   

  • Manage development and production of printed video and digital press materials related to non-product issues. The job holder will also develop, implement and drive a digital external communications strategy 

  • Organize and/or participate in relevant media events, conferences and seminars, as assigned.  These include marketing projects or sponsorships with a public relations element. 

  • Assist with product placement and sponsorship activity. 

  • Manage development and keep up-to-date the VCUSA website for media (non-product content) and align Americas media sites.  Work with VCC on development, consistency. 

  • Develop, implement and manage the corporate external digital media strategy. 

  • Work with VCC to spearhead a sustainability communications strategy and plan for the US. Work together with Volvo Car Americas Operations Corporate Communications Manager to develop a cohesive voice for the US. 

  • Promote Corporate and Social Responsibility for the US. 

  • Evaluate developments in corporate communications technology processes in order to assist managers by recommending best-practice solutions. 

 

Key Competencies/Abilities: 

  • A solid understanding of business.  This knowledge is generally acquired through a combination of education (graduate) and at least five (5) years of experience. 

  • Ability to travel estimated 15%  

  • Strong knowledge of the automotive business and extensive media contacts is a plus 

  • Adaptable to changing conditions  

  • Ability to communicate, persuade and make effective formal presentations.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills, in addition to other platforms to track trends
