Job Summary:

The Strategy and Business Development Specialist reports to the Senior Manager, Business Strategy within the Customer Service business unit. This person is responsible for supporting the execution of the United States Customer Service Business Strategy. In addition, this role is responsible for managing all operational activities around Volvo Car USA’s tactical incentive program and conducting (ad-hoc) analysis to support the parts and service side of the business with the goal to ultimately increase VCUSA’s profitability.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design rigorous, fact-based analysis using spreadsheets, database tools, and statistical analysis in order to identify areas for improvements on the parts and service side to ultimately increase VCUSA’s overall profitability. Examples include
    • Leverage repair order data to identify underperforming retailers and define and drive measures to improve their individual parts sales performance
    • Use multiple data points from different internal and external sources to support the creation of new retention increasing initiatives like Volvo Valet and Mobile Service. Support individual business owners with post mortem analysis assessing the success of each program
    • Analyze competitive spare part price information to assess VCUSA’s competitiveness towards the aftermarket and identify and communicate areas for revenue and margin improvements
  • Support the creation of VCUSA’s annual business plan process incl. calculation of our annual revenue targets
  • Evaluate the performance of our dealer facing tactical incentive program and offer feedback to improve its performance
  • Help craft corporate or partner-facing communication and presentations to deliver clear, compelling stories

 

Key Competencies and Qualities:

  • Bachelor’s degree within a discipline requiring a strong analytical aptitude such as business administration, economics, etc.
  • Up to 3 years of professional experience in an analytical or quantitative position.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to translate the results of analyses into implications and the “so-what” for the business
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Outstanding proficiency within Excel and Access, and PowerPoint
  • Courage to stand up for own perspective, even when it may not be the most common opinion
  • A sense of curiosity for business problems with a bias for action, as well as a strong sense of practicality and effectiveness
