Accounting Manager, Canada & Mexico

This role will be responsible for accounting and reporting responsibilities within the Americas Region. The role will have an overall responsibility for one or several entities and will also be the main contact towards the business and global accounting and finance functions. This individual will be required to be able to set the structure for how the Cluster Accounting Team, Global Accounting Centre and the Front Office should work together in line with the Global ways of working. Additionally, this role will be responsible for technical and transactional system implementation and support and be able to tie together the business perspective and needs with ensuring that accounting transactions align with Corporate Governance to ensure integrity in our financials. The individual also has to drive projects independently in close connection to the business and global teams within Finance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for accounting activity and transactions for all areas within an entity, including those performed by shared service centres located in various other countries.
  • Provide accounting expertise and “act as a consultant” to the organisation as it relates to new business setups, review of actuals, and the impacts of transactions.
  • Responsible for implementation, development, and harmonisation of the accounting processes in-line with Global expectations to ensure business and financial integrity.
  • Develop processes around and perform preparation of journal vouchers and account reconciliations that require significant accounting judgements and estimates and ensure judgements and estimates comply with the relevant accounting standards.
  • Investigation and analysis of accounting discrepancies and interaction with the required department to resolve them. This includes collaboration with departments both globally and locally and an ability to develop colleagues accounting knowledge.
  • Being a functional leader and also have potential and interest for the future management of people.
  • Responsible for month-end close process
  • Continuous development of SAP and HyperionFM tools to better manage the business
  • Interface directly with external auditors and other consultants
  • Report out to senior management at minimum on a monthly basis including supporting with ad-hoc accounting analysis.
  • Responsible for monitoring changes in the local GAAP of the entities within responsibility

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required - CPA or MBA a plus
  • 5-7 years of previous accounting or relevant finance experience required – public accounting experience a plus
  • Experience includes analysis of complex generally accepted accounting principles and IFRS with application to real-world transactions in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated maturity in business judgment.
  • Experience with Current/Deferred Taxes and VAT preferred
  • Prior financial reporting experience a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently while remaining a team player.
  • Strong computer skills – preferably MS Excel and SAP
