Business Controller, Mexico

Job Summary: This position will be the Business Controller responsible for managing and coordinating the reporting of actuals, budgets and forecasts.  This position will be responsible for business continuity between the operations and finance to ensure that the financials correctly reflect the activities within Volvo Car Mexico operations.


Principal Responsibilities:


  • Manage submission of annual business plans, budgets and forecasts for America’s region.
  • Support the Pricing
  • Target tracking process and KPI follow up
  • Publish  timely, accurate and useful decision making financial tools related to business plans, forecasts, budgets and actuals for Executive Management.
  • Develop with the operating team the operating expense forecast and review actual results to ensure compliance – together with local Management Team.
  • Ensure capital appropriation process compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting guidelines and structure.
  • Ensure business decisions / changes in policy and programs comply with governance rules.
  • Provide financial support and guidance to operations as requested in matters affecting VCM assets and policy.
  • Provide various business cases and support in producing and assist operating management in decision making.  Support forecasts.
  • Support VCM CFO with Financial Reporting and presentations.
  •  Support VCM CFO and finance team with other financial/accounting activities, such as: Internal control reviews, External audit processes, Purchase process among others.


Knowledge/ Competencies/Abilities:



  • Minimum 5 years experience in a relevant Finance or Accounting role
  • Bachelors degree required.  Accounting or Finance degree strongly preferred
  • Strong background and knowledge of Financial Planning and Analysis, with an emphasis on variance analysis and

            financial statement analysis.

  • Knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems and the ability to adapt/utilize systems to the needs of the department.
  • General knowledge of the auto industry and the ability to understand and interpret information presented and incorporate into the forecast process preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management financial forecast/budget results and the associated implications.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and be able to motivate the department in a positive manner.
  • Ability to learn and understand the business and its processes, and to recommend change as needed.
  • Continue to push to streamline processes, add efficiencies, and utilize whatever means available to provide solid, accurate financial information to management.
  • Ability to build relationships both internal and external to the department that create an effective team-oriented, task-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate to staff members the expectations, requirements, and goals for each individual and to be able to guide them to achieve what is expected in a positive manner.
  • Ability to handle on-the-job stress with a proactive and structured, but flexible and open approach
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities in an efficient manner to meet expectations.
  • Ability to propose and implement improvements and works towards fulfilling targets.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written.

  • Proficiency in software: MS Excel, MS Word, Hyperion, MS Power Point, MS Outlook
