Job Purpose

The Connected Car team sits within our Digital organization and is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the connected vehicle experience within the Americas region. This includes working with our new Android based infotainment, Volvo Cars mobile app, and our existing legacy platforms. Together with the business, we support the rollout, development, and maintenance of new products & services as well as implement market specific functionality.

 

As a Vehicle Software & Cloud Testing Engineer you will engage your technical skills to ensure end-to-end quality with a focus on the ultimate end-user experience and system performance. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing software release test plans. This role will be key in ensuring that the consumer facing Volvo Cars app as well as in-vehicle cloud technology works as expected across a variety of platforms.

 

Together with our global partners we will work to develop processes to ensure that globally developed solutions function as designed for the Americas region. Additionally, we will work to ensure that ongoing collaboration happens to coordinate the resolution of identified defects and identify root cause for Volvo digital and product teams.

 

What You Can Bring

  • Participate in software releases through feature validation, regression, and post deployment support.
  • Implement tools and develop processes to assist in delivery of quality software towards our consumers
  • Build documentation to aid in the education and troubleshooting of customer issues for stakeholders.
  • Maintain priority of known issues and participate in “go-no-go” decisions.

 

Additional Responsibility:

  • Execute and build test plans for globally developed technology solutions that impact connected vehicles.
  • Act as local technical resource for ongoing software updates and new product development.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and logging of in-vehicle software and cloud systems when defects are identified.
  • Update vehicle and app software with the intent of discovering or replicating problems/bugs.
  • Observe trends and identify failure points causing a broader effect.
  • Escalate chronic or severe issues to management with customer impact identified.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong experience working as a technical / operations engineer within a cloud environment (Cloud, Infrastructure, network troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Technical knowledge of network architecture and ability to interpret documentation effectively.
  • Proven ability to setup, read and interpret complex system logs & demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn and become comfortable with various Volvo specific programs to work with vehicle software versions, logging, and settings.
  • Experience working to identify gaps in technology or products and able to articulate improvement.
