Job Summary

This member of the Volvo Car USA (VCUSA) Corporate Communications team will take a lead role in developing and executing communications plans that support Volvo products, services, and technologies to multiple U.S. audiences including media, employees, and consumers. These plans should be consistent with VCUSA’s corporate objectives and in line with the company’s core values.


Principal Responsibilities

  • Act as primary media contact and spokesperson for VCUSA, and as a product, technology, and brand evangelist. Scope includes issues related to product and technology, including powertrains, HMI (Human Machine Interface), connectivity and infotainment, design, new safety technologies, and recalls.
  • Develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive annual Product and Technology communications platform to drive brand awareness and consideration among consumers. Focus on electrification, autonomous drive, and advanced safety technologies.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute a steady cadence of communications strategies using product, technology, and brand knowledge that support Volvo’s brand positioning.
  • Represent VCUSA through proactive and reactive media engagement and at key media events (e.g. product launches, regional and global media events, trade shows, etc.)
  • Maintain a deep working understanding of the U.S. automotive and technology media landscape.
  • Establish a collaborative working relationship with Volvo Cars’ global communications colleagues, partnering closely to review and edit all technology- and vehicle-related media materials (e.g. press kits, news releases, b-roll, etc.).
  • Participate as a member of key global task forces as appropriate.
  • Partner with global colleagues and industry technical experts to build product knowledge and develop clear local messages around it.
  • Manage VCUSA’s press, events and experiential, marketing and movie/TV vehicle fleet with our partners and vendors. Supervise fleet strategy, specifications, and replacements, and implement fleet management and optimization tools and metrics.
  • Develop new electrified vehicle preparation standards for events and media loans.
  • Spearhead innovative new ways to connect with media and drive coverage in the U.S. and across the Americas Region, including but not limited to the development of in-house broadcast capabilities
  • Manage one Press Fleet Senior Specialist and one Product & Technology Senior Specialist.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar department budget


Job Specifications



  • The individual must have excellent written and oral communications skills and have a solid business acumen. This knowledge is generally acquired through a combination of education (college degree) and at least ten (10) years of experience in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the automotive business and extensive media contacts is a plus. This is usually acquired through at least ten (10) years of automotive communications experience.
  • The role requires excellent automotive product and technology knowledge.
