Mobile Product Manager (Volvo Cars App)

The Connected Car Mobile Product Team is responsible for the consumer-facing mobile app experience within the Americas region.


Job Purpose

As the Mobile Product Manager, you will support vision and strategic growth within this area through collaboration with global and local Business, Strategy, R&D, UX Design, and Development Teams.  This position is on the leadership team for the Americas Digital Relationship Products area. You will also partner with the U.S.-based Connected Car Technology Team to support end-to-end product delivery.


What You Can Do


Strategy, Communications & Multi-year Roadmap Formation

  • Drive formation and communications for local strategy, including but not limited to preparation of multi-year roadmaps, steering committee presentations, board meeting presentations and financial forecasts; participate in program increment planning and recurring Digital Relationship Products leadership meetings to align efforts across Digital Americas.
  • Maintain recurring sessions with varied global and local partners to gather feedback and support strategy formation
  • Initiate and coordinate potential strategic partnership discussions with varied third-party providers in the Connected Car area (where potentially value-add to Volvo Cars’ strategic plans)
  • Review industry reports (where available) to support strategy formation


Delivery Enablement

  • Oversee cross-company launch activities for all new feature deployments (communications and coordination across all stakeholders)
  • Lead/guide the Product Owner(s) that are responsible for gathering requirements / writing user stories / performing varied end-to-end feature-level activities
  • Partner with the U.S.-based Connected Car Technology Team (responsible for connectivity testing and local application platform management, app development and operations) to align strategic plans, and to support transition from discovery to concept design
  • Align with global UX partners to increase utilization of interactive prototyping tools (for local communications purposes)


New Demand Management, Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Create and oversee a Connected Car (Mobile App Features) New Demand Process to support idea intake, key criteria alignment, cost-benefit analysis and ranking of new ideas; align business communications for this process and output
  • Compile annual budgeting proposals and complete monthly forecasting for local Mobile Product Management activities; complete and present budget allocation request documents through the course of the year, as-needed.
  • Develop and report varied KPI’s (aligned with Global measurement strategies); propose methods to improve results


What You Will Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: strategic planning/product management / product ownership/project management
  • Experience leading strategy, communications and/or experience design for a consumer-facing mobile application
  • Understanding of mobile software development technologies and processes
  • Direct management experience (this role will manage one resource to start, with possible future expansion)
  • Strong communication and storytelling capabilities, including experience creating decks/presenting at an executive level
  • Strong organization, communications, and collaboration skills, with a customer-focused approach
  • Experience working with varied agile / planning / collaboration / communication tools


Additional Preferred Competencies

  • Experience leading visual design / UX design teams; experience using application prototyping/design tools
  • Automotive and technology experience, preferably in emerging technologies (electrification, etc.)
  • Experience working with consumer-facing product teams and multi-location / global teams
