Be part of the change. If you are a Compliance & Ethics professional who wants to be part of Volvo Cars’ mission to change the automotive experience and make people’s lives less complicated, then we have the perfect job for you!

Join Us. Volvo Cars’ Compliance & Ethics Office is looking for an engaged and forward-thinking lawyer with a background within the Compliance & Ethics area, in particular privacy and anti-corruption, to lead the Compliance & Ethics program in the Americas Region. Volvo Cars’ Compliance & Ethics team consists of 18 individuals who provide advice and support to the business units and other staff functions of Volvo Cars Group within essentially all areas of Compliance & Ethics (anti-corruption, anti-competitive behaviour, data protection, trade sanctions as well as other Code of Conduct related matters). Locally, this new team member will work directly with our Americas Legal department.   Our headquarters  in Americas are located in Mahwah, New Jersey.

Truly Global, Proudly Scandinavian. Today, our award-winning Volvo cars continue to break sales records, and our disruptive innovations are pushing technological boundaries. But we’re aiming even higher. Our ambitions require creative and proactive legal guidance while safeguarding compliance in everything we do. Are you ready to take on some of the most complex compliance issues of today in new and creative ways?

Pitching in. Volvo Cars’ mission is to make people’s lives easier, safer and better and to offer solutions to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way. For Volvo Cars’ Compliance & Ethics team, this means that we support Volvo Car Group in achieving the business objectives in a responsible manner. It also means that we are looking for a colleague who shares our values. Being enthusiastic, curious, collaborative, interested in technology, having a drive for continuous improvement combined with high integrity and a pragmatic approach goes a long way. As the Head of Compliance & Ethics Americas, you will have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and take on various challenges, big and small, in a truly dynamic and international environment. In this role you will (i) further develop the Compliance & Ethics programs within the Americas region, (ii) enable and provide tools and support to ensure that business in the Americas region is conducted in compliance with applicable rules and regulations and in an ethical manner, and (iii) support the continuous improvement of Volvo Cars´ Compliance & Ethics programs.

Your Experience. You are a qualified lawyer with minimum 10-12 years of experience, including at least 7 in the field of Compliance & Ethics as a consultant and/or in-house. In your professional life, you have carried a proven ability to develop and implement pragmatic Compliance & Ethics strategies. You have a very high level of business acumen and are able to ‘operationalize” data protection and anti-corruption policies and anticipate/solve related challenges. You will of course be a team player with a proactive and customer-oriented mindset and with an ability to provide high-quality advice in the fields of data protection and anti-corruption, but also trade and other Code of Conduct matters, sometimes in complex situations and often under time pressure. Defining and solving complicated problems that require careful analysis and good judgement is something you excel at and thrive on. You are able to translate our Compliance & Ethics programs into actions that deliver business value and drive change. And, of course, you have a high level of integrity and strong personal character.
