Job Summary:   

 

As the Data Analyst in our Data Management & Insights department, you will be an integral contributor to the digital transformation of Volvo Cars USA, a leading disruptor in the automotive industry.  You will be part of a team who is critical to supporting the processes for loading data into our data lake for multiple high visibility initiatives.  You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business to understand data and integration needs and coordinate with developers to execute on those requirements, storage, and use of the data.  You will have a strong impact in driving data democratization and a data-driven culture.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data, integration, and API scope and specifications through detailed assessments and discovery to determine if and where that data should be stored in the data lake
  • Ensure data quality and governance of data through testing and QA processes
  • Drive the standardization of data naming, data organization, & establishing consistent data definitions
  • Measure KPIs to inform the success of integrations and the data lake
  • Ensure strong process documentation so that solutions are easily maintained and operated
  • Assist with setting up a data catalog tool to ensure comprehensiveness of data sources and ease of use for business users to leverage as a resource for data democratization; catalogue all reference data, including business definitions, schemas, and lineage
  • Meticulously ensure the safe storage, transmission, access, and use of data in line with privacy and compliance laws, data regulations, and internal company policies
  • Become SME of the data available in the data lake and train/educate users on how to access, use, and interpret the data

 

Key Competencies/Abilities:

  • 5+ years of in-depth data and analytics experience
  • Demonstrated track record of ownership and leadership in data management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as you will be collaborating with multiple stakeholders and groups
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, as the team will be working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Process oriented, great follow through skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience with databases, SQL, and ETL processes
  • Comfortable adapting to changing business situations and priorities
  • Experience with agile for IT implementations and Microsoft DevOps (or a similar tool)
  • Knowledge of the below is a plus
    • Emerging data technologies such as Azure cloud
    • MuleSoft’s iPaaS platform and API-First approach
    • Heroku Connect
    • Automotive industry
