Your Mission:  

The Business Insights & Development Manager will play a crucial role to support the Volvo Car Americas Management team with relevant data and insights to help them guide the organization in the right direction.


The automotive industry is fast paced and competitive, with constant innovation and new consumer expectations. It will be your mission to stay on top of the market development and to have a sense of the daily situation of the industry. You will be responsible to lead business development efforts and provide Volvo Car Americas with actionable insights through a variation of sources, both quantitative and qualitative, internal and external, short term and long term.


Furthermore, you will apply data science and trend analysis to communicate market performance and future scenarios with the ambition to give Volvo a competitive edge in the market. The role reports to the Director of Brand Strategy, Insights and Planning in the Product and Marketing Department.


What You will do:

  • Lead strategic business development efforts for Volvo Car USA guided by data science and analytics.
  • Lead Region Americas Insights and Market intelligence in close cooperation with MI managers across region.
  • Create automated, analytical and communicative data visualizations and reports to convey complex data in an actionable way.
  • Lead strategic deep dives and workshops with executive management team for business development efforts.
  • Lead the relationship (incl sourcing and budget management) with key industry data partners to ensure effective support of organization needs.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of business briefs for marketing and sales efforts such as go-to-market strategies for products & offers, new customer acquisition efforts and brand development activities.
  • Inform and inspire the leadership team with business opportunities rooted in business insights and forecasts.
  • Observation of the market, segments and competitor movements and strategies through a variation of data sources and application of relevant analysis.
  • Frequent reporting on the above mentioned for multiple stakeholders within the organization incl. the Americas Executive Management Team.
  • Share insights and intelligence based on data analysis from existing sources but also explore new creative approaches with external partners.
  • Secure a strong and close relationship with internal and external stakeholders to optimize value, action and results of identified insights.
  • Manage the sourcing and business relationship of external data suppliers
  • Share relevant local insights with the global team and vice versa.


What You will bring to the role:

  • Curious, open-minded and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to challenge the organization and foster constructive discussion.
  • High degree of business acumen, with understanding of global business operations and models.
  • Strong interest and understanding of the automotive industry and overall consumer trends.
  • Good knowledge of both Macro and Micro economics and the US automotive market dynamics
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable in front of large audiences incl. executive leadership.
  • Preferred Master or equivalent university degree in Business Management, Marketing, Engineering, Statistics or Behavioral Sciences. (Data science and analytics background preferred)
  • At least 10 years of experience in analytics, automotive or market research position in a global organization
