Volvo Cars are on an exciting journey to expand its in-house software development capabilities. At the department Computing Infrastructure System and department High Performance Platform, we are part of this aspiration. Our teams are building the next generation high-performance in-vehicle computers, designed to host different vehicle applications, stretching from basic vehicle state machines to advance active safety and unsupervised autonomous drive functionalities. 

We are now seeking a technical leader to join our Krakow Tech as Engineering Manager.

 

What you'll do

Role Description:

 

As an Engineering Manager, you will be part of a journey to establish new teams in our Krakow TechHub. In this role, you will build teams with responsibility of system engineering and system level test case development. You will foster a collaborative culture and build collaboration with your colleagues in Gothenburg, Lund, Krakow, and Shanghai. Your teams will deliver as part of our global backlog.

 


Executions and / or coordination of (specialized) engineering tasks.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Leadership and Direction: Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
  • Organizational Capability Building: Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions to build their capabilities. Provide training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Performance Management: Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Internal Client Relationship Management: Manage relationships with internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.

 

 

What you'll bring

In order to excel in this role, we are seeking an individual with proven technical expertise from fault-tolerant, safe, and secure embedded systems, within the automotive industry. You are result oriented and have the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner. As a leader, you have a record of empowering teams, and you are known to get things done, even if the pressure is high or when the path forward is unclear. 

 

Requirements: 

· Hands-on with fault-tolerant, safe, and secure embedded systems 

· Proven experience from a leadership position, manager role is meritorious 

· Driver’s license is required 

Occasional travel to hour head-quarter in Gothenburg is required in the role.
