Volvo Cars has an ambition to expand its in-house software development. At the department of Core System Software, we are part of this ambition. Our teams are building the next generation high-performance in-vehicle compute cluster, designed to host different vehicle applications, stretching from basic vehicle state machines to advance active safety and unsupervised autonomous drive functionalities. This compute cluster will be launched in our coming generation of pure electric and self-driving Volvo models. Our task is to create a safe, reliable, and secure software that serve as a platform for our stakeholders and partners to deploy and innovate their applications on.  

What you'll do?

As a Senior Software Architect, you'll serve as an expert consultant, collaborating with Product Managers and technical teams to translate ambitious visions into high-level architectural blueprints. You will have a particular focus on system design, rig orchestration, continuous integration, and framework optimization, playing a pivotal role in aligning the software flow with Volvo Cars’ global best practices.

• Engineer and evolve intricate, high-level architectural designs for sophisticated tools, infrastructure, and software operations.

• Partner with Product Managers to co-create the ART-level technical specifications and high-priority backlog items.

• Provide expert guidance on the technical design and execution to ART teams following work package commitments.

• Uphold the integrity of the architectural designs, ensuring alignment with Volvo's overarching software procedures and policies.

• Lead the initiative in exploring and integrating emerging industry trends and standards to advance our architecture.

Key Qualifications:

• Advanced expertise in orchestrating continuous integration, delivery, and deployment toolchains.

• Substantial experience in high-level software architecture roles, including IT, Cloud, or Embedded Systems.

• Mastery in working with cloud platforms like Azure.

• Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end software development lifecycle.

• Exceptional skill in tool governance, selection, and evaluation.

• Expert proficiency in Python; substantial experience in C/C++ toolchains is a plus.

• Proficiency with a diverse set of tools and platforms, including Jenkins, Zuul, Git/Gerrit, Python, Bash, Docker, Azure, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
