Goal
Build a SW model with suitable topology that can used to design a low power DCDC. 

 

Background

In recent years the automotive industry has been moving with fast pace in a new direction of development: electrification. New platforms are seen on the horizon with aim to incorporate the upcoming customer demands. Keeping this in mind, designing and building a prototype for highly efficient micro DCDC (400V to 12V each) with a peak load of 120W. Thermal analysis of the micro DCDC at different load profile.

 

Scope

Perform literature study on the suitable topology that can be used to design DCDC. Investigate on the new type of transistors for example Gallium nitride (GaN) that can be used to increase the efficiency of the overall DCDC. What are the limitations that the industry is facing with silicone-based transistors? Build SW model preferably in PSpice of the DCDC with suitable topology. If the time allows, build a COMSOL models and see the heat dissipation if the DCDC is running on maximum output power and what method can be used for cooling.

 

Do you fit the profile

We think you are a engineer with high interest within electrical power engineering and just now finalizing your Msc in Electrical, Mechanical or similar area of education.

 

Duration

  • The work will start in January/February 2022
  • The duration for this thesis work is 20 weeks.
  • 30 ECTS (academic credits) if in agreement with your Thesis Advisor in University
  • This thesis is to be conducted by 2 Students working in pair.
