Summer Worker - Logistic Engineer at Inbound Logistics

At Inbound Logistics, you are part of a global supply team that makes sure that the cars we build meet the highest expectations from our customers. To make this happen, we secure that all incoming transportation is designed, established, optimized and executed, cost efficiently and with exact precision, to the entire Volvo Cars organisation.


What you'll do

As a Transport Quality Engineer you will provide analytical support and monitor the IBL&OBL Quality targets. You will be working with day to day tasks which might include:


  • Defining and communicating the transport quality instructions, standards and processes.
  • Analysing the transport damage and claims data in the inbound transport flows and in the finished vehicles distribution chain from the factory to dealers.
  • Executing outbound distribution audits.
  • Securing that preventive measurements are updated according to our strategy.
  • Making judgements and taking decisions when damages occur, based on required data from carriers with support from Volvo Cars Product Development.
  • Acting as a contact person for relevant stakeholders (Quality, Volvo Cars plants, Markets, NSC…) and external parties that have issues with transportation damages.


Who you are

We are looking for candidates with strong communication skills as these roles interacts with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally. You enjoy working in collaboration with different partners and colleagues both internally and outside the company and have good knowledge within logistics operations and production. You are also accurate and detail oriented, while being service minded and having a strong customer focus.


  • You have an ongoing or finished degree within Supply chain/Logistics/Transport or equivalent relevant working experience.
  • Able to understand operational planning and resource allocation.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • If you have an operational background and/or experience in logistic processes, transportations or forwarding business that knowledge is highly beneficial.

Duration: All summer worker positions will take place during the period June-August 2019 for a total work period of up to 10 weeks depending on the position. Note that some departments might be closed for a period during week 29-32.
