Data Scientist - Predictive Maintenance

Software development that makes a difference

At Volvo Cars, we are making bold digital visions come true. We aim to lead in the automotive world by creating a digital ecosystem built around making our customers' lives less complicated. Now we are looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking.

What do we offer?
With our mission, 'Freedom to Move', Volvo Cars is evolving to become a direct-to-consumer services provider. Future mobility solutions demand major upgrades of monitoring capabilities, predictive maintenance and vehicle health algorithms. This is accomplished by a strictly data driven way of working, competent and curious co-workers and end-to-end responsibility. The ability to read out and process data from our cars are key factors for future connected services, autonomous vehicles and next generation electrical systems.

We are part of an agile product development organization with SAFe as a way of working and in our ART Vehicle Data and Diagnostics the mission is to ensure that customers’ vehicles are diagnosed accurately, reliably as quickly as possible, and with the feedback mechanisms such as continuous integration to enable continuous improvement.
We are a society of highly skilled engineers inspiring and creating solutions with data analytics, Python, cloud application and Machine Learning. Join us to become part of a new future within intelligent automotive.

What do we do?
Our team is responsible for development and implementation of component wear and status predictions. We want to predict the state of health of the components and systems in the car.
Our work includes data analysis, data collection and model development as well as data handling and development of our cloud-based system platform. It contains contact to hardware part experts, backend development and sometimes even measurements on car components.

By collecting data of vehicle usage, we can track the state of health for components and system in the car and give a prediction on when components are in need of replacement. This information is used to optimize vehicle services and maintenance in order to increase uptime of the vehicle and enhance customer satisfaction. Using components throughout the lifespan is also beneficial from an environmental as well as economic point of view.
We are a service minded multidisciplinary team, working cross functional at Product Development to bring new knowledge to our company.
