Senior CAE engineer in structural dynamics for Driving Dynamics and NVH

The Trimmed Body team is part of the Driving Dynamics and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) competence centre within Product Creation at Volvo Car Group. The Centre has the responsibility to ensure that our attributes are supported in the vehicle programmes, both in terms of customer and legal requirements.  Within Trimmed Body we have DD & NVH responsibility for the body structure, trimmed body systems and components, and wind noise. The team works integrated in all project phases, from AE to vehicle production start, and with field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve our attributes in our cars. We work with testing and CAE of body structures, door and tailgate systems and their integration in the complete vehicle where the effect on car occupants is evaluated. In short, we ensure that dynamic forces acting on the trimmed body are contained in an economical and robust manner and that they do not compromise the DD & NVH customer experience. We work with state-of-the-art equipment and test facilities and have extensive communication with other internal design areas, suppliers and our development centre in Shanghai.


What you’ll do
As a Senior CAE Engineer, you will be a part of the team to strengthen the deliverables and development of the next generation of body structures. Some of your responsibilities will be to lead assignments, of course dependent on your experience and knowledge, and participate in the development of improved or new methods and guidelines.


You and your skills
You will be performing CAE analyses, propose improvements and drive necessary change together with involved design areas. You will do CAE analysis of static and dynamic body stiffness and its influence on vehicle dynamics. You will also be participating in car program teams and communicate analysis results and guide the design work from an NVH and vehicle dynamics perspective as well as participating in the requirement setting at systems level. You will also participate in the development of improved or new methods and model capability as well as in implementations of new software / hardware. You will lead and take responsibility in CAE assignments dependent of experience and knowledge


Required qualifications
We believe you have a M.Sc in mechanical engineering, technical acoustics, engineering physics or similar. You are competent in in structural dynamics and engineering acoustics
•    Knowledge of Nastran, Ansa, Matlab and MS Office
•    Knowledge in vehicle dynamics is meritorious
•    Knowledge in Adams and Hyperworks are meritorious
•    You are fluent in English

For this role we believe it’s important that you have an analytical capability, good interpersonal skills as well as good communications skills. You are customer focused, result oriented, have the ability to work independently. We are looking for a team-player with a sense of accountability.
