Engineering Lead Network Services

Volvo Cars and Geely are undertaking a significant industrial collaboration as they merge their combustion engine operations into a stand-alone business in order to establish a new global supplier that will seek to develop next-generation combustion engines and hybrid powertrains

 

What´s in it for you?

If you are the right person for this role you will be part of Digital, responsible for Network services and developing the next generation services in the Network domain. You will, from scratch, be able to create the area operating model, roadmaps and blueprints to ensure future proof and robust services.

As a Engineering Lead Network Services you will focus on driving and delivering upon OKR’s, DoD’s, KPI’s and other measures of progress and deliverables. Key is to supply our different business areas with fit for purpose and robust service delivery’s.  

The location for the job is in Skövde and Gothenburg.

 

What you´ll do

You will be a domain expert for Network Products as well as business needs to enable fit for purpose network services in the connectivity area. Also owning relevant monitoring solutions/products and enablement of world class robustness. You will leverage agile methodology for hosting configuration, development and deep experience with Agile tools. Review business requests for product development to maximize business value and undertakes cost evaluation, standards reviews, and prioritization.

You will guide continuous improvement efforts for the platform advancing maturity, looking forward to technology trends and capabilities that will enhance business outcomes. Further, set up and execute a high ambition roadmap and business plan based on objectives and key results (OKR). You will also be responsible for articulating and consistently emphasizing the short- and long-term vision of the area to the team and relevant stakeholders. Account for license management, testing and security policies as well as account for data and analytics. In addition, you will:

 

-Ensure critical competence in the teams balancing in house teams, consultancy services, and bought services. Furthermore, enable teams by making sure they have the right tools and methods.

-Protect the long-term technical integrity of the area in close collaboration with the architectural function as well as validating stories making sure they meet the acceptance criteria, definition of done (DoD), and has the appropriate tests.

-Coordinate content dependencies with other key areas such as Hosting, EUS, Security as well as CRM, PLM, ERP and MES platforms.

-Account for and manage vendor and suppliers in a multi-sourcing environment.

-Articulate product requirements to various audiences (high level to low level technical details) as well as ownership and management of costs associated with all hosting. You will also be accountable for the complete lifecycle of all network and connectivity services in the span of responsibility.

 

Do you fit the profile?

You have BSc or equivalent experience in a relevant field (significant on the job training can be seen as equivalent). Documented expertise and experience in LAN/WAN, wireless, remote working, VPN and firewall – mainly using Cisco products. Product development and agile experience as well as business and IT for IT relationship management.

 

You have documented architectural knowledge in fields as, but not limited to: VoIP, WAN-acceleration and WiFi. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE is meritorious.

Furthermore, you have experience in managing large scale remote working setup and facilitation for a seamless end user experience

The new organization will develop technologically-advanced and efficient combustion engines and hybrid powertrains for Volvo Cars, Geely Auto, Proton, Lotus, LEVC and LYNK & CO. The new stand-alone business will also supply third-party manufacturers, providing exciting growth opportunities. The gradual electrification of the automotive industry means there will be significant ongoing demand for efficient hybrid powertrains alongside fully-electric offerings. Hybrid cars need the best internal combustion engines. This new unit will have the resources, scale and expertise to develop these powertrains.
 
The new business, currently operating under the internal name ICE, will be an employer for approximately 2,000 employees from Volvo Cars and around 9,000 employees from Geely’s combustion engine operations, including R&D, procurement, manufacturing, IT, HR, Strategy & planning and finance functions.
