Now we are looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking.

What do we offer?

Enabling Data Management & Analytics at scale for Volvo Cars – we offer a dynamic work environment within Consumer & Enterprise Digital as member of a diverse team of developers and analytics experts with full support for continuous personal development at all levels, including the “Volvo Cars School of Data Science” program. You will become a valued part of the Volvo Cars overall data management and analytics capability development. At a wider level you will be a member of a network of competent engineers, specialists and strategists from a range of areas of expertise throughout Volvo Cars with the opportunity to both teach and learn. You will have the opportunity to have a leading role in the development of a platform that benefits the entire company, where you will see it be used to the benefit of the company and to the customers by enabling next-generation data-driven products and services.

What´s in it for you?

The Insight & Data Management teams within Consumer & Enterprise Digital develop, manage and maintain the Volvo Cars enterprise data management & analytics platform. Our team is cross-functional, consisting of data engineers, architects, analysts, modelers, developers and data scientists developing the platform on which applications and services are built with a direct or indirect connection to our cars. The platform’s core is a logical data warehouse with data ingestion and distribution capabilities.

We are now looking for Data Engineers with skills in designing, creating and maintaining the different parts of a data management & analytics platform and to make the parts become an effective unit, thereby providing users throughout Volvo Cars with effective data and tools to create value and insights.

What you’ll do

As a Data Engineer, we want you to work closely with data-driven business units across the company to analyze and understand the platform needs as well as the other data management teams to co-create a complete Volvo Cars data foundation. You will be a key person in the translation and execution of requirements to the appropriate set of technologies comprising the data engineering part of the analytical platform. You will work primarily with building data workflows/pipelines into the data landing zone/lake and further on to respective data management capabilities such as the Data Science platform or the data warehouse. The goal is “insights at the fingertips” for the entire Volvo Car Group, and to enable rapid development, deployment, and exploitation of those insights.

The platform building will involve an agile cycle of identification of needs and potential solutions, and prototyping, implementation/sourcing, and maintenance of different parts of the platform. In this process, you will be working with a range of competent engineers, specialists, and strategists from throughout the company, where you will be able to both teach and learn. You will also be expected to be an expert and pro-actively stay updated on state-of-the-art technologies and best practices within the field of data engineering.

In addition to having a key role in platform creation, you will be participating in concrete value-creating projects, where you will be contributing to best practices, architecture and hands-on development.
