1997 - Program Manager Plant Supply Chain Engineering

VOLVO CARS Gent Material Planning and Logistics is responsible for the plant supply chain to assure the full logistics flow from supplier to the line. The department exists out of a material planning and replenishment team, supply chain coordination, supply chain engineering, product launch, material handling and several logistics centers. More than 1,200 colleagues work every day together to assure a flawless and optimized flow of material that assures we build our XC40 and V60 meeting the highest expectations from our customers.
We do this in close collaboration with other VOLVO CARS Gent and VOLVO CORPORATE Supply Chain departments. VOLVO CARS Gent (VCG) initiated a LEAN supply chain transformation and to drive this change we are looking for an ambitious and self-driven Program Manager Plant Supply Chain. VOLVO CARS Gent is producing the successful XC40 and will be producing VOLVO’s first 100% electrified VOLVO. Responsibility:
You´ll be responsible to run the plant supply chain LEAN transformation, including developing our ideal plant vision lay out for logistics. For this you will also closely work together with and for Plant- Strategy Engineering (PSE). Focus is to establish best in class logistic solutions from pick up at supplier to point of use. You are responsible for organizing work and resources in such a way that the company's goals in the short, medium and long term are met effectively. You will report to our Senior Director Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) with a dotted line to our Senior Director for Plant- Strategy Engineering (PSE).

 

Main Tasks

  • Lead the VCG plant supply chain LEAN transformation, co-develop the strategy on a plant level, initiate the needed projects to deliver to this strategy, deliver the plan, manage the resources and deliver the goals on quality, delivery precision, cost and LEAN targets.
  • Develop the plant vision lay-out for logistics together with Plant-Strategy engineering (PSE) and represent MP&L internally and externally in infrastructure related forums.
  • Optimize the flow cross functionally from supplier to point of use
  • Run special projects in the logistic processes to improve flow (Kaizen, M3MU etc.)
  • Follow up lean logistic KPI’s
  • Support in the development of our LEAN Logistics competences across the VCG organization
     

Competence Requirements / Profile

  • You have a University degree and have an engineering background or equivalent
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • You must be passionate about and have experience with LEAN and supply chain
  • You have a proven track record of managing large transformation programs in a challenging environment and proven successful project management skills. 
  • You must have experience with leading teams in a way that supports the Volvo Cars culture and you are highly successful in bringing out the best in others. You find energy and motivation in releasing others’ potential, allowing them to grow.
  • Thanks to your excellent communication skills, you have the ability to create strong and trustful relationships.
  • You have strong communication and collaboration skills while being able to think strategically.
  • You have an engineering background or equivalent
  • You are able to build confidence and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • You have a holistic view and are goal oriented.
