Midwest Select Market Manager

Job Summary: 

The Market Manager, Select Market is responsible for leading their respective Market to ensure that the Market objectives and Retailer targets in volume and profitability are met in both Sales and Customer Service. The Market Manager will also define Retailer Improvement programs based on Annual Business Plan.  The Market Manager is expected to be in Volvo Retailers on a daily basis, with 1-2 home office day per week.   This position is based in the Chicago Area with retailers in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota. 

 

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Achieve Market Targets and Objectives for the following: Retail and Wholesale Car Sales, Market Share Targets, Parts and Accessory Sales, Retailer CPO sales, Customer Satisfaction, Marketing, Warranty, and Goodwill. These are Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Targets.
  • Work with and provide guidance to Retailer Principal and Retailer Management to achieve Retailer and Volvo combined objectives. Develop improvement plans as needed where shortfalls are noted. 
  • Manage market implementation of Volvo sales and marketing programs, activities, standards, support, tools and product training.  Advise Retailer personnel of incentive programs and assist where required.  Ensure compliance with Best Practices.
  • Assist Sr. Market Manager as needed with strategic projects and tasks 
  • Lead and participate in Market meetings to clearly communicate Volvo messaging to retailers in a group setting
  • Responsible to development, implement, and sustain Retailer parts and accessories merchandising/marketing
  • Develop and perform Service Drive Reviews in order to identify out of line conditions and improve retailer performance in all aftersales activities
  • Communicate warranty and goodwill performance and compliance.
  • Implementation of Regional and National aftersales initiatives
  • Responsible for resolution of customer contact issues at the Retailer level (includes coordination of buybacks, goodwill analysis, and litigation avoidance efforts).
  • Provide market input on National/Regional programs, Regional projects and processes.
  • Review results and analyze market performance for New, Certified Pre-Owned and OSD vehicles, Aftersales, Parts, Accessories and Technical Support.
  • Monitor Retailer CSI performance and recommend improvement plans. Audit “flags” – warranty, sales, incentives and customer care.
  • Identify new and existing market opportunities.  Identify market team training and skill development needs.  Define Retailer improvement programs based on Annual Business Plan and Mystery Shopper.

 

Competencies/Experience/Skills Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 + years of automotive experience required with 1+ years of dealer contact experience in Region/Field level positions preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of dealer performance issues & implement corrective actions across all dealership departments 
  • Proven performance track record in either sales and aftersales field positions 
  • Strong acumen in problem solving, process improvement and development of dealership action plans. 
  • Ability to utilize a PC to communicate, analyze data, track trends, and retrieve relevant information
  • To effectively employ all data elements and files in Volvo systems to analyze business operations with the goal of improving Retailer performance.
  • Evaluate retailer performance and make recommendations and implement action plans regarding retailer’s business operations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of automotive technology, which may be acquired through formal or informal experience.  Knowledge of the DMS (Dealer Management Systems) is desirable.

  • Ability to utilize a PC to communicate and retrieve relevant information, as well as to conduct appropriate analyses.
