  • Our mission is to develop and support projects with Paint & Sealing application within Paint locally and globally, as well as manage the installations projects in our paint shops.
  • Now we are looking to hire a new colleague within the competence area of the Virtual Manufacturing Simulation and Robot Offline Programming.


What you will do…

  • The purpose of the Simulation Engineer is to perform geometrical virtual analysis of existing and new car programs in a manufacturing system "Digital Plant." 
  • Second main purpose of the role is to create offline program ready for implementation into the robot applications. 
  • Advanced simulation tools are used by the Simulation Engineer and it has progressed to the point where most of the design of product/manufacturing verification is being done using computer simulations rather than physical prototype testing i.e. front loading. 
  • This role is a major provider of information to support the engineering teams in decision making. 
  • The simulation engineer analyzes the robustness and performance of equipment / assemblies. It encompasses simulation, validation and optimization of products and manufacturing systems.
  • The simulation work is to ensure the offline programs gets ready for implementation on-site.
  • The main areas to work in is the sealing area and the paint area of the Paint shop.
  • The role will require good cooperation with off-site engineering units as well as with the local engineering unit and the Volvo Car Charleston manufacturing organization.

Do you fit the profile?

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 3 years of expertise in Paint shop manufacturing / automotive industry
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of robot applications and robot programming, preferably of paint and/or sealing application equipment by the brand of Dürr.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of automation equipment in a project context 
  • Knowledge and experience of Virtual Manufacturing analysis from either Body, Paint or the Final Assembly shop. 
  • Operate CAE simulation tools used for product and manufacturing analysis. Mainly Process Simulate, Team Center and IPS.
  • Knowledge on Virtual Manufacturing simulation methodology and of opportunities/limitations of the method.
  • Experience with the development of virtual analysis methods and techniques.  
  • Analytical and strong ability to draw conclusions and support them with solutions.
  • High level of communication skill and presentation techniques.
