Indirect Purchasing (IDP) is a global organization with highly skilled and motivated employees located in Sweden, China, and the USA. We have the responsibility for purchasing Non-Production Material, Logistics, Machinery & Tooling, Services and IT within Volvo Car Group. Our task is also to provide ongoing support for related projects and vehicle programs. We are responsible for the development of supplier collaboration together with internal stakeholders in order to reach Volvo Cars' cost, quality and environmental requirements.


As a Senior Buyer, you will lead sourcing of machinery equipment to our car plant in the USA. Large investments are currently being made and are planned for in the coming years. The suppliers are global and local, the stakeholders are located in the USA. You will cooperate with the IDP buyers in China and Europe to find the best global sourcing synergies. It is important that you have a good holistic understanding and strategic view and can operate in an international environment.


Main responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing projects following the Volvo process and procedures
  • Establishing sourcing strategies
  • Negotiate complex commercial and legal agreements
  • Create and maintain commercial relations with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Maximize Volvo Total Cost of Ownership for your area of responsibility
  • Develop and improve a world class supply base
  • Challenge status quo
  • Perform market research and execute spend analysis


Required qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • University degree or equivalent experience in Engineering and/or Business.
  • Ability to work co-operatively in teams, as well as independently to drive and complete tasks
  • 3~5 years purchasing experience
  • Preferred automotive industry experience
  • Experience in SAP or equivalent system
  • Solid project management skills
  • Experience in process equipment (CAPEX)
