Process Engineer - Assembly Shop

Job Summary:       

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for implementing state of the art solutions in all projects, optimizing methods, processes and process flows, to support Volvo Cars Manufacturing Systems.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform time studies, capacity analyses, layout / product flow analyses and standardized work.
  • Participate in Launch Team Activities and Budget Projects.
  • Facilitate setup and variation reduction teams.
  • Manage, organize, assist with training and facilitate Kaizen (Process Improvement) and lean thinking implementation workshops to achieve company objectives.
  • Develops and maintains the standard labor hours, cycle time and takt time.
  • Provides data, information and reports to assist in identifying waste in the system and improve operational efficiency by utilizing value stream mapping and other tools.
  • Update and maintain plant floor layout.
  • Write standards for processes, as required.
  • Design material layout (addresses, lot sizes, packaging).
  • Responsible for build instructions for each model.
  • Implementation of running product changes.
  • Responsible for ergonomic analysis, work station design and human factors.
  • Refine and update simulations in order to improve process capability like OEE.
  • Calculate manning needs for production processes.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Expert know-how in balancing, manning calculations, productivity analysis/loss analysis, capacity analysis and ergonomics.
  • Strong knowledge in Product and Process Engineering.
  • Experience with MTM-systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is a plus.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, TeamCenter and preferably simulation software, are a plus.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Good communication skills in a global, cross-functional environment.
  • Experience in teaching/training others.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills.
  • Results and team-oriented, a strong team player.
  • Ability to travel globally, occasionally.
