Equipment Engineer - Body Shop


Job Summary

The Equipment Engineer Body Shop is responsible for handling tasks via the Equipment Card system according to the process for Facilities, Tooling & Equipment in VCC Business Management System, from concept phase, RFQ, design, installation, commissioning, launch to follow-up. This includes all positions within tooling and equipment within the body shop, such as automation, lifting devices, filling equipment, end of line testing equipment, fixtures, etc.  procurement and follow-up. Support to other VCC plants may be required (Belgium, China, Sweden).


Principal Responsibilities

  • Leads/participates in equipment projects (cost estimation, planning, administration, procurement, verification and handing over) for plants.
  • Performs safety, reliability and cost analyses.
  • Responsible for execution of equipment-FMEA.
  • Supports running production with secondary problem analyses within the area.
  • Responsible for knowledge transfer to Production and Maintenance in the projects.
  • Creation/contribution to the development of instructions related to process equipment within the area.
  • Leads/participates in standardization- and technical networks within the area of expertise.
  • Contributes in early project phases with specialist competence.


Job Requirements

  • ME or IE Bachelors Preferred or commiserate experience
  • 5-7+ years of expertise in body shop manufacturing/automotive industry
  • AutoCAD knowledge
  • Product Car Body knowledge
  • Exceptional project management and leadership skills
  • Communication, collaboration and negotiation skills with internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally
  • Working experience in an international and diverse environment is a plus
  • Experience of Manufacturing Engineering processes and FT&E process
  • Broad knowledge from other similar operations within the area
  • Work in a team oriented environment
  • Target oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Well organized working methods and ability to report in a structured and concise format
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work and to manage multiple tasks
  • Positive mind-set and pro-active attitude, self starter.
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally and to act in a multi-cultural environment
