Equipment Engineer - Paint & Sealing Applications


What’s in it for you?

  • As a Tooling and Equipment Paint Engineer within Manufacturing Engineering, you will develop and implement quality-assured, flexible, effective, and reliable production systems, and equipment solutions in our Paint shops.
  • Our mission is to develop and perform process-related equipment projects within Paint locally and globally, as well as manage the installation projects in our plants.
  • Now we are looking to hire a new colleague within the competence area of the Paint and Sealing application equipment. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise major tasks / projects on the Paint and Sealing application equipment.
  • The challenge the next coming years is to modify our existing lines for our next generation of cars and further develop the paint production systems to be flexible, achieve low labour & overhead cost, have high technical availability and maintainability.


What you will do…

  • Be responsible for the process-related Paint and Sealing equipment as defined in our Scopes of Work and Request for Quotation within our production plants.
  • Work closely with Central Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers in the local team and the end-users in the Paint shop.
  • Develop strategies and processes within the competence area locally and together with global competence network.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions within the area and supports when expertise competence is needed.
  • Share knowledge and experience, and offer trainings accordingly, to improve capability and competence of end-user and other support units within the site.
  • Demonstrate personal leadership in support of company business objectives and role model the Volvo Cars Culture


Do you fit the profile?

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with equipment installation projects (systems design and integration)
  • Extensive experience of automated paint and/or sealing application equipment
  • Extensive experience of robot commissioning, preferably Dürr installations
  • Experience of paint or sealing application projects, preferably as project manager or responsible engineer
  • Knowledge of paint and/or sealing application programming
  • Knowledge of paint material and/or sealing material 
  • Knowledge of surrounding paint process relevant to paint or sealing applications
  • Experience of implementation new paint and/or sealing material into production process is a plus
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Experience with Industrial IT
  • Good communication, collaboration and negotiation skills with internal, external customers and stakeholders
  • Builds trust with others and ensures Ownership to meet commitments
